Setting Up Your DE1XL Espresso Machine: Tips and Tricks

Discover essential tips and tricks to set up your DE1XL espresso machine efficiently, ensuring a smooth and convenient transition from unpacking to making your first espresso. Follow these guidelines for optimal performance.

Efficient Unpacking Techniques

Unboxing the Decent DE1XL requires careful handling to ensure all components remain intact. Begin by flipping the box upside down and removing the cardboard casing. The suitcase can be accessed from either side, allowing for flexibility during unpacking. Remove all protective materials, including corner protectors and the plastic sleeve.

As you access the interior, start by removing the drip tray, drip tray cover, tablet, and tablet stand. These components are essential for your espresso machine setup. Carefully lift the machine using a hand under the group head and behind the leg, and place it in the desired position.

Strategic Component Placement

The water tank is a critical component, mounted beneath the machine. Remove it and the power cable stored inside. Reinsert the tank with the handle facing out, removing the back panel and elastic band on the lever. Ensure the lever is lifted, the tank pushed in, and the lever lowered to secure it.

Insert the tablet into its slot until it fits snugly, and remove any plastic from the group head controller and mirror. The portafilter should be unpacked and locked into place, and the group head handle screwed in. The power cable, designed to be hidden inside, should be passed through the leg hole, ensuring a tight fit.

Preparing for Your First Brew

Before powering on, fill the water tank by lifting the lever and using the steam wand to pour water. Slide the tank back and lower the lever. Confirm the standby switch is pushed in, indicating readiness for operation. If the group head controller lights up but does not complete the self-test, ensure the standby switch is correctly positioned. Following these steps, your Decent DE1XL is ready to brew your first espresso.
